What is Psychological Assessment?
A comprehensive Psychological Assessment helps us better understand how an individual thinks, learns, and experiences their world. In understanding one's unique strengths and weaknesses, we can figure out how to best support success across settings. Psychological evaluations help determine appropriate mental health diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
What is Psychoeducational Assessment?
Psychoeducational Assessment is used to determine developmental diagnoses and corresponding IDEA classifications. Typically, a psychoeducational evaluation is used to initiate an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan that supports your child through access to necessary accommodations in that setting. Psychoeducational testing often assesses for learning differences, Gifted/Talented, cognitive delays, and/or autism.
What diagnoses do you assess?
In my practice, I specialize in assessment for the following:
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder
Specific Learning Disorders
Intellectual Disability
Gifted/Talented
Trauma Disorders
Mood & Anxiety Disorders
What is typically involved in an assessment?
The test battery is determined by the specific referall question. However, a comprehensive psychological assessment will usually involve a thorough clinical interview (with child and caregivers), behavioral observations, parent/teacher reports, IQ testing, and academic achievement testing. With adolescents and adults, personality measures are typically included in a standard test battery. I specialize in use of projective personality assessment techniques, such as the Rorschach, and tend to include both objective and projective personality tools.
What age ranges do you assess?
While I specialize in assessment for children and adolescents (age 4-17), I am also trained in assessment with adults.
How long does an assessment take?
The length of the assessment process is variable based on the referral question and age of the individual. On average, the process takes 1-2 months from start to finish, including interviews, testing, scoring, report writing, and formal feedback of the results.
Assessment Fee?
Assessment services are billed hourly due to the unique needs of each individual assessment. The rate for all assessment services is $175/hour. Billing for assessment will include time spent on scoring, interpretation, and report writing. At the start of the assessment process, we will discuss your needs and I'll provide an estimate of cost. I am a private pay psychologist and do not bill insurance for services. I do provide necessary documentation for clients to independently seek reimbursement through their insurance providers. I accept all major credit cards and HSA payments.
In addition to comprehensive psychological evaluations, I also provide the required assessment for applicants pursuing their Level III Commissioned Security Officer (CSO) or Level IV Personal Protection Officer (PPO) licenses. This service is conducted virtually and includes a brief clinical interview, remote administration of the MMPI-3, feedback of results, and completion of necessary documentation. I book 2 hours for these assessment and charge a flat rate of $400.
